Eligibility
Permanent residency holders can apply for citizenship after 3 years under PR status. The application for citizenship is currently paper-based.
- Must be of age (over 18 years)
- Have lived in Canada for 3 years out of the 5, while under permanent resident status.
- Must be able to effectively communicate in English or French in Canada.
- Should not have any criminal history which can be disallowed under Canadian law.
- Should have knowledge about Canada, political domains, history and the geography.
Upon successful application, candidate will be required to take a Citizenship test, along with a citizenship ceremony to become official Canadian citizens.
