How to go about the process
If you have a valid job offer in hand or a qualification in a skilled trade, you can apply to gain permanent residence in Canada (Québec is exempt from this program) through this process.
The preliminary step to go about this program would be to create a profile on the express entry web application. Based on that information you will be assessed through a point based ranking system based on their minimum requirements, which are as listed here:
- Match the required language levels for writing, reading, speaking and listening.
- Have at least 2 years of full-time work experience under a skilled domain, within 5 years of your application for residence.
- You will have to ensure your skilled trade is acceptable by the National Ocuupational Classification, or an equivalent certificate of qualification from a province.
- Have a valid job offer or full-time employment (for one year) or a certificate of qualification in that skilled trade issued by a Canadian authority.
If you are eligible, you must also indicate proof of your funds for settling purposes in Canada (unless you have valid work proof/offer). You must also plan to live outside Quebec as this program is not covered there.
