How to go about the process
Most foreign nationals need a study permit to be able to pursue education in Canada.
Process for procuring a study permit:
- As an international student, you must first finalize what program of study and which designated learning institutions (DLI) will you be attending in Canada.
- You will then need to secure a offer of admission from the institution.
- From here you can proceed to apply for a study permit (a Temporary Resident Visa may be required).
- Some things to note:
- The IRCC can require for you to go through a medical examination and provide police clearance certificate.
- Applying to Quebec will also need an approval from the Quebec government.
- Upon arrival to Canada you will need to retrieve your student permit and work approval (depending on program eligbility).
- If you intend to stay and work in Canada after your course completion, most graduates will be able to secure a post-graduate work permit to prolong their stay.
