Determining Elgibility
Requirements for international students
- International students can be granted the ability to work after completing their studies for up to 3 years through a Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP).
- Must have been educated at a Canadian educational institution and completed their field of study, which should be of at least 8 months in length.
- Application for PGWP must be submitted within 90 days of receiving confirmed documentation indicating completion of studies from the attended institution and that they can obtain a degree/diploma or certification.
- Must also have a valid study permit.
Other considerations
- A PGWP will not be valid longer than the duration of your studies within Canada.
- Duration of studies constraints:
- Less than 8 months: ineligible for PGWP.
- Less than 2 years but more than 8 months: a work permit can be issued for the same length as the period of studies.
- 2 or more years: a work permit can be issued for 3 years.
